NYC startup pitches outdoor dining sheds for restaurants that can be taken down and reused
Briefly

Stratis Morfogen, owner of Diner24, emphasized the importance of rebuilding his outdoor space, stating 'Real estate is expensive and this is a way to expand your real estate.' His $35,000 investment reflects a strategic decision to enhance the dining experience in the city.
Architect Nick Flutter mentioned, 'We've helped more than 100 restaurants with materials for their 2025 permits.' This highlights the startup's involvement in navigating new regulations while assisting restaurants in adapting.
The current statistics show a significant decline in the number of outdoor dining applications compared to earlier pandemic numbers. 'While more than 13,000 outdoor dining spots thrived... only 2,600 restaurants applied for the new post-pandemic outdoor dining permits as of an Aug. 3 deadline.'
John Verlander, owner of Lowerline, noted that their new structure is a marked improvement over the previous one, emphasizing the need for better-designed outdoor dining solutions after many businesses struggled with inadequate setups during the pandemic.
