"The restructuring will allow Mary's to improve guest experience by having third- and fourth-generation owners work alongside the next generation," the company said in a press release last week.
"Mary was encouraged by friends to open her own restaurant," Fazio's obituary noted, highlighting her journey from a passionate cook to a renowned brand.
According to filings made to the U.S. Bankruptcy Court of Northern California, Mary's Pizza Shack owes between 1,000 and 5,000 creditors between $500,001 and $1 million.
"This year, we celebrated 65 years of being in business, and we're not going anywhere," reflects the company's optimism despite the recent bankruptcy filing.
