High lead levels found in 12 cinnamon and spice brands, Consumer Reports says
Briefly

Consumer Reports found troubling levels of lead in one-third of ground cinnamon and cinnamon-containing spice blends it tested, raising concerns about food safety.
The tests conducted involved 36 brands purchased from 17 stores across Connecticut, New Jersey, New York, and online, revealing that 12 brands exceeded lead levels that trigger recalls.
Microbiologist James Rogers stated, 'Even small amounts of lead pose a risk because, over time, it can accumulate in the body and remain there for years, seriously harming health.'
The Consumer Reports findings led to a warning against brands with high lead levels, advising consumers to discard the listed products to prevent health risks.
