This week, standout food experiences highlighted nostalgic pastries from Greenpoint bakeries Radio Bakery and Nick + Sons, capturing the essence of childhood breakfasts. Additionally, Jersey City's flourishing Chinese restaurant scene showcased several delights at South of the Clouds, with dishes like Crossing the Bridge noodles and Yunnan chicken salad delighting diners. Despite a few technological inconveniences related to ordering, the meal's flavors and quality stood out, reaffirming the vibrant culinary offerings in the area.
Strawberries have stepped back into their limelight for the season, and those in the know are capitalizing on it. What went the extra mile for me when it came to these two examples was how they both sent me right back to breakfast before school.
In a recent visit to South of the Clouds, all of the four dishes we ordered were standouts: those noodles, a mapo squid, beef on sticks, cucumber salad, and my favorite, Yunnan chicken salad.
