Annual Ferragosto festival returns to Little Italy this Sunday, 20K attendees expected - Bronx Times
Briefly

"Normally, we have over 20,000 people," Frank Franz, board member of the Belmont BID, told the Bronx Times. The festival attracts crowds with its vibrant atmosphere, featuring food-rich experiences.
"It's that sense of community and these are places where people care about one another and it's a nice feeling," said Franz. This highlights the importance of tradition and local pride at Ferragosto.
Although the festival began in the Bronx in 1997, the Italian history of the borough goes much further, encompassing waves of migration and cultural evolution over time.
Today's Little Italy reflects a diverse community, yet Ferragosto remains a cherished celebration, emphasizing tradition rather than purely heritage.
