David Viana, a Bravo Top Chef alum, and his wife Neilly Robinson have launched a new restaurant, Judy's, in Asbury Park. The establishment, named after Robinson's mother, offers a unique blend of Jersey Italian American cuisine influenced by Jewish traditions. The menu features red sauce classics alongside Jewish American dishes, complemented by a thoughtfully curated wine list. The couple is also known for their other successful restaurant, Lita, which emphasizes employee welfare and communal dining experiences. Judy's opens amid a vibrant atmosphere, highlighting the couple's homage to their cultural heritage and culinary roots.
"Judy's is Jersey Italian American through a Jewish lens - a Jewish woman who thinks she's Italian," says co-owner Neilly Robinson.
The wine list is influenced by the diaspora of Ashkenazi Jews, featuring wines around $18 a glass.
Amid the opening buzz, Viana continues to shine on Food Network's Tournament of Champions, spotlighting his culinary prowess.
This restaurant's storytelling pays homage to the couple's families, reminiscent of their successful venture with Lita, which was a Best New Restaurant semifinalist.
