In an interview, McKellen expressed frustration with memory loss and forgetting names as he ages, saying, 'Nevertheless, it's a nuisance when you can't remember your best friend's name.'
Despite his health issues, McKellen remains passionate about acting. He stated, 'Just keep at it as long as the legs and the lungs and the mind keep working.'
Reflecting on his sexuality, McKellen noted the societal pressures of being gay in the 1930s and expressed regret for not coming out sooner, stating, 'It was only when I was mature enough... that I took my life into my own hands.'
