Lucy's bar, a staple in the East Village since the 1980s, is set to reopen on March 4 after initially closing in February 2024 due to rising rent. Owner Ludwika "Lucy" Mickevicius was evicted but will return to the bar, operated now by the hospitality group Golden Age. Meanwhile, the New York bakery Funny Face celebrates pop culture with cookies shaped like celebrities, including a recent tribute to Timothée Chalamet. Additionally, Hashi Market has expanded its presence in Midtown South, now featuring ready-to-eat Japanese cuisine and various products.
The longtime bar opened in the 1980s by owner Ludwika "Lucy" Mickevicius, but, because of a rent hike, she was evicted and had to close in February 2024.
During the private opening party, Mickevicius told EV Grieve that she'll "be at the bar when I'm available."
The market includes ready-to-eat foods, like sushi boxes and desserts; snacks, produce; beauty products; and much more.
Funny Face is known for its customized sugar cookies decorated like pop culture icons, which includes a recent dedication to an Oscar-nominated New York City actor.
