Google has been advocating for Apple to implement RCS messaging, yet even after Apple’s tentative acceptance, Google continued to mock them while it should focus on its own issues.
In a recent beta of Google Messages, elements were found that suggest forthcoming support for standalone RCS messaging on Wear OS devices, enabling watches to send messages without a phone.
With this expected update, Wear OS LTE smartwatches will likely be capable of sending not only standard messages but also voice messages, enhancing their functionality.
Although this update promises to improve RCS messaging on LTE smartwatches, it remains uncertain whether non-LTE watches can leverage RCS if disconnected from their associated phones.
