The new patent, titled 'Hinges for folding display devices', describes a hinge system with interconnected links, enhancing flexibility in foldable devices' designs.
The hinge design incorporates crescent-shaped slots that allow links to rotate, crucially moving the rotation axis outside the link itself, showcasing advanced engineering.
Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has highlighted that Apple is likely facing technical challenges with the design of both the display and hinge mechanisms for potential foldable products.
