Briefly

The San Francisco Police Department disclosed details of a shooting incident involving Cheasarack Chong, who shot shopkeeper Olive on January 27 before being fatally shot by police. Security footage revealed Chong approaching Olive with a gun. Bystanders attempted to help Olive, who survived the attack. Police later found Chong armed with multiple weapons at his residence. Chong had a troubled past with mental health and previous legal issues, including a past acquittal for attempted murder related to a separate incident. His family's concerns about his well-being were highlighted as they had lost touch with him.
Chong had previously struggled with mental illness, and his family lost touch with him eight years ago. In 2018, he was acquitted of attempted murder.
During a recent town hall, police presented footage of Chong shooting Olive six times before being engaged by responding officers.
