Some VTA light rail service will not resume Monday as scheduled
Briefly

The Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority (VTA) announced light rail service delays on Monday due to ongoing track inspections after a historic two-and-a-half week strike. While the orange line may reopen by Monday afternoon, the blue and green lines will take longer. Bus services resumed on Friday to the relief of passengers after workers returned under a court order. The VTA noted increased cases of copper wire theft during inspections and reported ongoing contract negotiations with the Amalgamated Transit Union, which rejected the latest pay offer that included an 11% raise.
The resumption of service came two days after the striking workers were ordered back to their jobs by a Santa Clara County judge.
The VTA said on social media the orange line may potentially return to service Monday afternoon, while the blue and green lines will take more time.
Amalgamated Transit Union Local 265 went on strike March 10 after negotiations fell apart the week before.
The agency reported increased incidence of copper wire theft, which will be investigated and repaired as inspections began.
