SFMTA Installing Curbside Protected Bike Lanes on Valencia from 15th to 23rd - Streetsblog San Francisco
Briefly

The San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency (SFMTA) announced the removal of Valencia Street's center-running bike lane starting February 18, 2023, replacing it with a side-running lane. This project, which starts soon, is expected to last two to three months and aims to repave the street. However, stakeholders, including the San Francisco Bicycle Coalition, have expressed disappointment over the lack of an alternative bike route during construction, stressing past safety issues that arose when cyclists shared the lane with motor vehicles.
We're incredibly disappointed in the agency's decision to not provide an alternative bike route on Valencia Street during construction—stakeholders clearly voiced that this needed to be a top priority.
We're calling for the curbside bikeways to be extended south on Valencia to Cesar Chavez Street and widened to accommodate the inevitable increase of people biking on Valencia Street.
