"If I had not done that, our urban canopy would have been in the negative," Safaí said, emphasizing the importance of tree planting in urban planning.
Safaí promised to plant at least 40,000 trees in his first term, aiming to enhance urban greening and offset the city's carbon footprint.
"If you were to dream, what can the city do to make itself the city for the next 50 years?" asked William Duff, after which Safaí highlighted the need for an improved subway system.
He noted that world-class cities are easily traversable, emphasizing the need for underground connections to enhance urban transport.
