Cine Latino on Mission could become arts spaces, rooftop theater
Briefly

The 111-year-old building formerly housing Cine Latino on Mission St. is undergoing a transformation into a modern structure with retail and an art gallery on the ground floor, individual artist studios on the top two floors, and possibly a rooftop theater.
The project, led by the Cort Family and Hemminger Architects, pays homage to the building's history as the Wigwag theater from 1913. Plans include honoring the legacy while creating spaces for local artists and potentially adding an outdoor movie theater.
The late owner, Vera Cort, wanted to ensure the building's preservation and create spaces for artists. Her vision includes refurbishing the top two floors, converting the roof into a possible outdoor theater, and adding more space for local artists on the third floor.
