A mural defaced, restored and its evolution
Briefly

Marta Ayala Minero's mural, rooted in personal and communal history, has endured vandalism and evolved through various themes, reflecting socio-political struggles and resilience.
"The painted images trigger an ancestral memory of how we are connected, even if we live on the other side of the world," said Ayala, highlighting the mural’s universal message.
After staff began restoring her mural, Ayala explained, "I will be working on the wall for the next two or three weekends to sharpen the Quetzal, the waterfall..."
Despite the defacement being deemed a hate crime, Ayala remained optimistic, noting the vandals' use of primer ironically left it prepared for restoration.
