A woman walking in North Berkeley was tragically killed by a driver at the intersection of California and Ada streets. The police discovered her pinned under a Chevrolet Bolt and, due to the nature of the incident, required fire department support for extrication. Despite being transported to Highland Hospital, the woman succumbed to her injuries. The scene showed personal belongings scattered on the road, prompting an investigation by the Fatal Accident Investigation Team while police have made no arrests as of now.
The intersection of California and Ada streets was cordoned off with police tape Sunday afternoon as police investigated the collision.
Berkeley police said they found the woman pinned under a vehicle at the intersection of Ada and California streets around 1 p.m.
Due to the severity of the collision, the Berkeley Fire Department had to extricate the victim from underneath the vehicle.
Police said the Fatal Accident Investigation Team is looking into the collision and no arrests have been made.
