"A woman in her 70s has died following a crash involving a number of vehicles in Ardee, Co Louth, this morning. The collision involving two cars and a truck happened at Bridge Street at approximately 11.25am. Gardaí and emergency services rushed to the scene and the driver and only occupant of one the cars, a woman in her 70s, was brought by ambulance to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Drogheda, where she was pronounced deceased. A post-mortem examination will take place in due course."
"The road is closed for Garda Forensic Collision Investigators to conduct an examination of the scene. Gardaí have also issued an appeal for witnesses to the accident to come forward. Any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling in the area between 11:00 and 11:00am are asked to make this footage available to investigating Gardaí. Gardaí and emergency services attended the scene and the woman, who was the sole occupant of one car, was taken by ambulance to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda where she was pronounced deceased. A post-mortem examination will be carried out. The crash occurred as the town prepared for the funeral of Dylan Commins, one of five victims from a recent Dundalk crash. The road remains closed while Garda Forensic Collision Investigators examine the scene and witnesses and dash-cam footage are being sought.
