The collision involving two cars and a truck happened at Bridge Street at approximately 11.25am. Gardaí and emergency services rushed to the scene and the driver and only occupant of one the cars, a woman in her 70s, was brought by ambulance to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Drogheda, where she was pronounced deceased. A post-mortem examination will take place in due course."

Gardaí and emergency services attended the scene and the woman, who was the sole occupant of one car, was taken by ambulance to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda where she was pronounced deceased. A post-mortem examination will be carried out. The crash occurred as the town prepared for the funeral of Dylan Commins, one of five victims from a recent Dundalk crash. The road remains closed while Garda Forensic Collision Investigators examine the scene and witnesses and dash-cam footage are being sought.
