Luis Perez, a handyman with a criminal past, was convicted of murdering his employer, Bruce Blackwood, after stealing $7,700 from him. Blackwood, who was a wealthy landlord associated with several properties, caught Perez for the forgery. In a bid to escape the consequences, Perez killed Blackwood on March 6, 2006, dismembered his body, and disposed of it in plastic bags. Eventually, after years of investigation, Perez was sentenced to 25 years to life on September 29, 2025. His case is featured in the upcoming episode of "New York Homicide."
