What your JOB says about you, according to science
Briefly

'People often have stereotypes about the personality traits typical of different jobs, and it turns out that many of these intuitions are quite accurate,' said study author Dr René Mõttus. 'This is the first time a scientific study with such a large sample has confirmed these patterns.' This study provided empirical evidence for long-held beliefs about the relationships between certain professions and personality traits, marking a significant step in understanding how job roles correlate with psychological characteristics.
Using data from 68,540 people, researchers have identified the personality traits that typify more than 260 job roles, showing that professions like actors and journalists tend to be more neurotic, while roles such as PR managers and marketers generally lean towards extraversion. The findings challenge the notion that these are merely stereotypes, establishing a concrete basis for the traits associated with various occupations in a scientific context.
