Vic Flick, who played the iconic guitar riff for the James Bond theme, has passed away at the age of 87, diagnosed with Alzheimer's.
Flick's distinctive guitar sound was created using a 1939 English Clifford Essex Paragon Deluxe guitar and innovative techniques, helping to define the Bond sound.
In reflecting on his technique, Flick noted, "I leaned into those thick low strings with a very hard plectrum, played it slightly ahead of the beat..."
He contributed to numerous hit recordings throughout his career, showcasing his versatile talent across diverse music genres outside of the Bond themes.
