Magalli Meda, an adviser to opposition leader Maria Corina Machado, stated on X, "It's a violation of our human rights. It's become an embassy prison, she wrote. The power issue has turned the Argentine embassy in Caracas into a place of confinement. Opposition members are trapped, unable to access basic necessities while the Venezuelan government neglects their rights. Despite being in a foreign diplomatic space, they feel as if they are imprisoned rather than sheltered."
Meda pointed out the stark lack of diplomatic engagement, stating, "No ambassador has come to this embassy. Not one. Have they tried? Surely some would have wanted to." This underscores the isolation faced by the opposition as they continue to navigate a perilous political landscape, highlighting the abandonment they feel from international representatives who should be advocating for their rights.
