Typhoon Krathon’s arrival in Taiwan has resulted in at least two fatalities, with significant injuries and damage recorded. Over 120 people were injured, and officials issued warnings to stay indoors due to dangerous winds.
Despite early warnings, many residents in Kaohsiung defied advice, venturing outdoors amidst severe wind and rain. The mayor emphasized the need for safety, remarking, "There are too many people outside in such dangerous conditions."
Following Krathon's landfall, the storm brought massive rainfall exceeding 1.6 metres in certain areas, contributing to landslides across the island. Emergency services faced challenges in evacuating patients from a nearby hospital.
