'Top Chef' alum Padma Lakshmi reveals holiday traditions with daughter Krishna
Briefly

"Being in my pajamas and building gingerbread houses, decorating the tree and making cider" is how Padma Lakshmi plans to create a magical holiday season with her daughter Krishna, highlighting the warmth and fun of family traditions during Christmas.
"It is hard, as any parent will tell you, to combat all of the influential forces that prey upon a child's mind." Lakshmi expresses the challenges she faces in protecting her daughter from societal pressures, acknowledging it's particularly difficult for girls.
"I have kept her as away from this [modeling] as I can. Because there'll be time for her to have it, but I need her to focus on her education, on her talent, on her skills as a musician or whatever she wants to do with her own life," Lakshmi explains her parenting approach regarding the modeling world.
Lakshmi admits, "I'm strict about some things and I'm not that strict about other things... But I was very strict about making sure she ate a very good diet the first four, five years of her life," indicating her balanced yet attentive parenting style.
