Thousands of 'high risk' fire safety repairs not carried out, inspectors find
Briefly

The Regulator of Social Housing has rated Newham Council with a C4 grading, highlighting "very serious failings" in fire safety and maintenance that endanger tenants.
"Inspectors found there were 9,000 overdue fire safety remedial actions... with 4,000 classified as high risk, showing the council's insufficient assurance on reducing such risks."
Newham Council's chief executive acknowledged the failures, stating they are investing over £64 million to ensure tenants live in safe and secure homes as part of capital improvements.
The council's repairs and maintenance services were found wanting, with 5,400 open repairs, of which nearly half were not addressed within target completion dates.
