Vermont produces over 2 million gallons of maple syrup annually, leading the U.S. with nearly half of the country's total syrup production in 2023.
The state has maintained its top position in maple syrup production since 1916 due to its ideal climate, rich soils, and abundance of sugar maple trees.
Vermont is home to over 20,000 acres of sugar maple trees, with one in every four trees in the state being a sugar maple.
The tapping process for maple syrup begins before March and concludes by the end of April, coinciding with Vermont's annual Maple Festival.
