A Status Yellow rain warning for Donegal has been issued due to the possibility of heavy rain leading to localized flooding, poor visibility, and difficult driving conditions.
Meteorologist Mark Bowe stated that 'New Year's Eve and New Year's Day will be very windy, blustery and wet,' predicting a series of low-pressure systems affecting the country.
The UK's Met Office has also placed a yellow wind warning for Northern Ireland, indicating strong winds may disrupt travel for those heading north for New Year's celebrations.
During the night of New Year's Eve, Met Éireann warns of the risk of spot-flooding as rain is expected to become heavy, especially in the north and west.
