Logan MacPhail, a 17-year-old diagnosed with autism, was sentenced to a minimum of 17 years in prison for murdering his ex-girlfriend, Holly Newton, 15.
During the sentencing, the court heard that MacPhail had stalked Holly for an hour and stabbed her 36 times after she attempted to end their relationship.
Holly’s mother described her daughter as a victim of domestic abuse, highlighting the tragic circumstances surrounding the murder and the obsession that led to it.
Despite MacPhail's claims of an unplanned attack and a blackout, the jury rejected his defense, convicting him of murder after a six-week trial.
