Taiwan: Weakened 'weird' Typhoon Krathon lands on west coast DW 10/03/2024

The Central Weather Administration reported that Typhoon Krathon made landfall at 12:40 p.m. in Kaohsiung, marking an unusual occurrence as it hit the west coast.
Residents have been advised to stay indoors due to torrential rains and winds, with Kaohsiung recording 356 disaster cases mostly involving fallen trees and signs.
At least two fatalities have been reported as a result of the typhoon; injuries have also surged, resulting in about 123 people harmed.
Taiwan's financial markets and schools remain closed for a second day, with all domestic flights suspended and many international flights canceled due to the storm.
