"Any regulations that require hundreds of thousands of adult sites to collect significant amounts of highly sensitive personal information is putting user safety in jeopardy," Pornhub parent company Aylo said in a recent statement, per PC Magazine.
"Moreover, as experience has demonstrated, unless properly enforced, users will simply access non-compliant sites or find other methods of evading these laws."
Free speech advocates, like the Free Speech Coalition, are challenging age verification laws in various states, arguing they infringe on adults' First Amendment rights.
The latest: An appeals court ruled Wednesday that Tennessee's age verification law can take effect pending the outcome of the Texas case.
