Starbucks is reversing its open-door policy to prioritize paying customers, enforcing a new code of conduct that limits restroom access and store usage to purchasers only.
Starbucks' representative Jaci Anderson stated that this new policy is a practical step and aligns with common practices among retailers to ensure that paying customers can enjoy the facilities.
Effective January 27, 2024, Starbucks will enact a Coffeehouse Code of Conduct, limiting access to its spaces and restrooms to paying customers or those accompanying them.
The decision comes as a response to a previous incident in Philadelphia and aims to create a safe space for paying customers who wish to use the cafe.
