Southwest Airlines sued by DoT for chronically late flights
Briefly

The lawsuit, filed by the Departments of Transportation and Justice, focuses on two specific flights that were chronically delayed for five consecutive months, disrupting 180 flights.
Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg stated, "Today's action sends a message to all airlines that the Department is prepared to go to court in order to enforce passenger protections."
Flight 1029 from Chicago to Oakland arrived late 19 out of 25 times it was flown in April 2022 alone, averaging over an hour delay.
The lawsuit alleges Southwest continued to promote a flight schedule that was unrealistic, despite being aware of the chronic delays for months.
