Southbridge fire displaces 12 families, neighbor reportedly saw suspicious person before the blaze

Fire Chief Paul Normandin described the incident as a "devastating loss" for the families involved and the community, emphasizing the need for reliable smoke alarms to prevent tragedies.

Chief Normandin stressed, "Without working smoke alarms alerting people to the danger, we would be having a very different conversation," highlighting their critical role in fire safety.

A neighbor reported suspicious activity prior to the fire, stating, "I saw a man on my home surveillance camera going back and forth behind one of the buildings... before the fire erupted."

The Southbridge Fire Department is currently investigating the fire's cause and origin, which has significantly impacted twelve families and raised safety concerns for the community.
