Sony is restructuring its leadership with Hideaki Nishino stepping in as president and CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment from April 1. Nishino, previously CEO of the Platform Business Group, partners with Hermen Hulst who continues overseeing PlayStation studios. The change follows a challenging year marked by layoffs and the cancellation of several projects from the former CEO, Jim Ryan. The new leadership aims to leverage technology and creativity to expand the PlayStation community while moving beyond the controversial live-service focus of past management.

Nishino and Hulst have been dealing with the fallout of Ryan's deeply misguided efforts to focus on live-service games, including the closure of some development studios.
