Snapchat is launching initiatives to empower AR creators and support academic accessibility through new monetization features and educational pricing for its AR Spectacles. Developers can participate in monthly challenges, creating Lenses with the Lens Studio tool for potential cash prizes. Additionally, Snapchat is introducing a special subscription fee of $49.50 per month for students and educators, in various countries, to encourage engagement with AR technology in educational settings. This makes Spectacles reachable for students globally with incentivized participation in AR development.
AR developers can register for each challenge, build a Lens using our AR authoring tool Lens Studio, and simply apply the Challenge Tag in the Lens publishing process to be considered.
To ensure Spectacles is accessible to this community, we're introducing educational pricing and a special student discount for a subscription fee of $49.50 or €55 a month.
Any student or teacher enrolled or working at an accredited educational institution in these markets is eligible. Apply to the Spectacles Developer Program using your .edu or educational institution email address, and start building.
