Slat House / Oficina de Utopias
Briefly

The Slat House features a collective housing design with five apartments over three floors, ensuring natural light and ventilation through distinct courtyards and a patio.
By employing a suspended staircase connected to the street, the Slat House offers access to multiple apartments while maintaining privacy for the T3 unit, distinguishing it from the T1 rentals.
The building's design incorporates a mix of cantilevered and recessed balconies along with slatted elements that manage sunlight exposure, inspired by Mindelo's colonial architecture.
Concrete and cement block serve as the primary structure for the building, reinforced by metal elements to support the cantilevers, enhancing aesthetic and functional appeal.
