The Sharjah Biennial 16, themed 'To Carry,' aims to explore collective futures by acknowledging the weight of shared histories and experiences, according to Hoor Al Qasimi.
Curators highlight that the theme 'To Carry' involves understanding our precarity in foreign spaces and bridging intergenerational stories through diverse modes of inheritance.
The event will feature around 140 artists, including both established and emerging voices, half of whom will showcase work specifically commissioned for the Biennial.
Activities include residencies, workshops, and sonic experiences, aimed at engaging with varied perspectives and methodologies to enrich the Biennial’s offerings.
