Seven men jailed after series of broad daylight shooting in south east London
Briefly

Their involvement in violent incidents came after an acquaintance of Smikle and Newton was stabbed in Peckham in the early hours of May 7, 2023. Following the stabbing, Smikle and Newton visited the victim in the hospital. Afterwards, they collected a bag containing weapons and, along with the rest of the group, planned to seek revenge on those responsible for the attack.
Detective Constable Luke Martinez, who led the investigation, said: 'This group retaliated to violence with more violence, bringing a firearm and other weapons to the streets of London which could have seriously injured or killed someone.'
The men, who retaliated to violence with more violence, were sentenced at the Central Criminal Court on Friday, October 18. The group includes Tyreke Smikle, 26, Kai Davis Francis, 25, Duan Correa, 21, Shaquille Marsh, 26, Tyreece Quartey, 25, Malachi David Francis, 21, and Timothy Newton, 18.
Smikle was carrying a loaded shotgun, while the others were armed with machetes and knives. During their rampage, the group pursued a vehicle before Smikle fired a shotgun through the driver's window.
