Senators again attempt to ban pre-teens from social media
Briefly

Sens. Brian Schatz and Ted Cruz are re-introducing the bipartisan Kids Off Social Media Act (KOSMA), which intends to restrict social media access for children under 13. KOSMA, which stalled last year, may gain traction due to current political shifts, including Cruz's leadership in the Senate Commerce Committee. If enacted, it mandates that social media companies delete accounts of users under 13 and restrict data usage for users under 17, while also requiring schools to block social media access. This reflects a broader concern for children's safety on digital platforms.
"I'm going to do everything I can to get it passed out of committee and advanced on the floor [...] and signed into law," Cruz told.
"I think that [Khan's stint as FTC chair] understandably caused significant reluctance on the part of Congress to entrust any additional authority on the FTC," Cruz said.
