The scaffolding failure occurred around 7 am Wednesday, amid windy conditions in San Francisco and around the Bay Area, with wind gusts of over 30 mph.
The San Francisco Fire Department warned residents to avoid the 1900 block of Broadway, noting the scaffolding was hanging dangerously, ready to fall.
Despite the scaffolding remaining intact, it had pulled away from one side of the high-rise building, raising safety concerns for surrounding areas.
With no estimated time for mitigation provided by the SFFD, the responsibility to address the dangerous situation lies with the company that installed the scaffolding.
