Sar Street House / Parsonson Architects
Briefly

The architects designed a contemporary family dwelling on a steep site in Wellington, focusing on thermal performance, spaciousness, and natural surroundings while ensuring minimal energy use.
To harmoniously integrate with its environment, the house is constructed from timber framing and light EPS blocks, allowing for minimal disruption during the build, celebrating natural materials.
A 'spine' stairway connects the upper dwelling with the existing 1920s villa below, fostering community interaction between families in adjacent properties, enhancing both design and social connectivity.
The living area is oriented east/west to maximize sunlight exposure and provide stunning views of the harbor and valley, ensuring a sustainable home with thoughtful architectural design.
