El Dorado County, despite covering only 1% of California, is home to an incredible 30% of the state's native plant species, amounting to 2,300 different varieties.
This biodiversity hotspot not only serves as a sanctuary for diverse plants but has also sustained Indigenous populations for thousands of years, showcasing a legacy of human interaction with nature.
Participants will have the opportunity to engage with naturalist John Kipping, who will illustrate the uses of Indigenous plants and display various baskets and plant-derived tools.
