Qatar to construct permanent pavilion in Venice Biennale's Giardini-the first country to do so for 30 years
Briefly

Qatar is set to build its first permanent pavilion at the Venice Biennale, marking a significant step in its international art presence. The pavilion will be located in the Giardini della Biennale, alongside the Book Pavilion. Although the pavilion won't be completed in time for this year's architecture biennale, an installation by Pakistani architect Yasmeen Lari will be featured. The structure's opening reflects Qatar's commitment to contemporary art, aiming to catch up with neighbors like the UAE, which established its pavilion earlier.
For decades, La Biennale has been a place where art and architecture bring nations together, and Qatar is honoured to take its place in this extraordinary global gathering.
Though it will not be ready in time for the architecture biennale this coming May, the site will be used during this event for an installation by the Pakistani architect Yasmeen Lari.
Despite Qatar being the first among the Gulf nations to engage with international contemporary art, it has trailed its neighbours in terms of permanent representation in Venice.
