As I traveled to various countries, my perspective on animal consumption began to shift. I witnessed the stark differences in how various cultures viewed animals, particularly dogs, and their relationship with them, which challenged my understanding of meat production.
The realization struck me violently; while I had consistently viewed the consumption of animals through a lens of normalcy and tradition, I had never before scrutinized the ethical implications of how we choose which animals are meant for companionship and which are deemed for consumption.
