My kids are now teenagers, but for over a decade, they believed in Elf on the Shelf, leading to cherished family memories that I now deeply miss.
I meticulously planned out elf activities each December, using a spreadsheet to document everything from fishing with crackers to stealing Baby Jesus from the nativity.
The anticipation built at dinner was special, like when my 6-year-old asked about elves’ plans, or when my son excitedly shared stories with friends.
We were a dedicated Elf on the Shelf family, fully embracing the idea, and even though it exhausted me, those moments are what I truly long for.
