Palissade Cottage / NatureHumaine
Briefly

The Palissade boathouse, conceived by clients with a background in fashion and design, showcases a unique architectural identity. Set in Austin, the new house replaces an older structure previously endangered by flooding. The design juxtaposes a solid, opaque façade facing the street—creating a defensive barrier—with a highly transparent side that embraces the views of Lake Orford. Large horizontal windows and a skylight ensure luminosity in the interior, while durable brick cladding provides acoustic isolation and anchors the home to the landscape, resulting in a harmonious blend of form and function.
The design of the boathouse embodies a fusion of defensive aesthetic and transparency, reflecting the clients' artistic vision while addressing environmental conditions.
Brick cladding provides durability and acoustic isolation, while large windows and skylights maintain a connection to the natural surroundings.
