Hans Electric, a family-run appliance shop in Elm Park, has announced it will close permanently on January 27 after 60 years in business. Owner Victor Kohter expressed his emotional farewell, noting the overwhelming support from customers. Founded by his parents in 1966, the shop has deep community ties, and customers have shared heartfelt messages and gifts in response to the closure. Kohter reflected on the challenges leading to this decision, emphasizing gratitude for the loyal clientele that has supported them over the years.
After 59 years of trading in Elm Park, the appliance shop's customers have been giving their thanks since the news of the closure.
I can't believe the lovely comments and cards that we have had from customers. It's very sad, very emotional.
We've made good friends and I'm just gobsmacked at the amount of comments and how many people have said we'll be missed.
It's come to time to close. We've even had gifts like bottles of wine and I'm not saying I want that! Their words are more than enough.
