NYS Attorney General Letitia James, alongside her counterparts from Connecticut and New Jersey, is demanding that Altice USA refund customers impacted by the blackout of MSG cable channels due to contract disputes. In a letter dated February 5, James criticized the lack of access to MSG channels, which broadcast key New York sports events, and highlighted the unfairness of charging customers for services they cannot access. The MSG channels have been unavailable since January 1, with earlier blackouts affecting Nexstar channels resolved on January 18. James insists on a timely resolution to protect consumers.
"Local sports fans should not wind up in the penalty box by having to pay for channels they have not been able to watch."
"Optimum customers have paid for channels to watch their home sports teams, but their cable company is not offering these channels while charging them anyway."
