Newly graduated Mass. state trooper resigns after OUI charges
Briefly

A recently graduated Massachusetts State Police trooper, James Doran, resigned following charges of drunk driving, rendering him ineligible for reinstatement according to State Police policy.
Doran's lawyer indicated there was to be a hearing regarding his status but claimed, 'he decided that it would be more appropriate for him to just resign from the position.'
The misconduct will be reported to the Massachusetts Peace Officer Standards and Training Commission as part of standard procedure for a criminal charge against a trooper.
Doran faces charges of operating under the influence and possession of an open container in his vehicle, having rear-ended another car while off-duty.
