Gaz Rahman, a tenant in Whitechapel, faces service charge hikes despite worsening conditions, with maintenance failures leading to leaks and mold in his home.
The Housing Ombudsman identified maladministration in the response to Gaz Rahman's service charge information requests and severe maladministration regarding leak maintenance.
Gaz's service charge rose from £653 when he purchased his flat in 2002 to £4,654 today, far outpacing inflation which would have brought it to £1,183.
THCH acknowledged the ongoing leaks and expressed regret for the situation but mentioned that the roof had been repaired subsequently.
